Are You My Type?

As I’ve been going along with my aura work lately, I’ve noticed that the readings are often nicely supplemented by a little discussion of Myers-Briggs personality types.

If you don’t know about personality typing already, it’s kind of the scientific version of a chakra reading.  It breaks personality down into four simple components:  Introvert vs. Extravert, Intuitive vs. Sensor, Thinker vs. Feeler, and Judger vs. Perceiver.

What?  Not that simple?  Kind of weird actually?

Okay fine.  I’ll bet you’re a Sensor.  :)

For those who want to know a little more about themselves, however  (and possibly transform their lives and relationships in a truly profound way), I offer the following link:

Typewriter Ball

No, not THAT type, but you will have a ball taking the quiz!

Here you will find a very short (around five minutes) personality test, composed of four comparative questions.

And unlike aura readings, which I will only do with express permission from each client, I encourage you to take this quiz for not only yourself, but for anyone else you know well enough to do so.

It will give you a tremendous amount of insight into how they think and approach life, which will help you to approach them in a way that may make your relationships far more successful.

The key to tolerance is understanding – and the more of both, the better.

I am an INTJ, for example – actually a highly rational, scientific type, and probably one you would expect to find reading a medical textbook rather than your aura.

But we can be very open-minded and intuitive, and over time I’ve done a whole lot of work to develop my feeling side, which is not naturally strong in my type.

This is the benefit of understanding yourself – it should never serve as an excuse for your weaknesses, but a tool to work around and minimize them.

If you do take the test, drop me a comment and let me know how it turned out!  I’d love to get to know you all a little better.

Sorry for the pop quiz on Monday morning, but I hope you’ll find it’s worth it!

  1. I am an INFJ – and it figures I’d be in a 1-3% category. It seems I pay attention to detail and a perfectionist BUT I don’t like confrontation sounds more like OCD to me. :)

    • Oh, good, INFJ is actually my favorite type. When they are really well developed, INFJs are highly intuitive and idealistic people – I believe that Gandhi and Mother Teresa were both INFJs, if that tells you anything.

I have trained myself to try and behave more like an INFJ than my “real” type, but under stress I probably revert to the weaknesses of the INTJ.

I will post some links soon for websites that explain more about the individual types. I have noticed that there is a great over-representation of the rare INF types in my readings and such, but this is simply because these intuitive, introspective people are more likely to be interested in knowing what makes them tick. More power to them! :)

YES, actually, I am exactly your type. I would be interested in any meditation mantras that you find work for you as an INTJ. I once tried a relaxation technique that involved focusing on external distractions (the little noises from outside; a coaster left on a table instead of returned to its stack) and imagining them as steps toward helping you achieve a peaceful state. It did not work for me! Maybe it is more of an FP thing.

    • Actually, I use an extremely simple and physical meditation technique – I just sit quietly, close my eyes, and roll my eyeballs upwards and a little to the left – gently, and not to the degree where it’s painful or anything.

This helps to disconnect the brain’s orientation system, and allows you to enter alpha brainwave state a lot more quickly and easily (which is all that meditation really is anyway). I highly recommend it.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes for you! You should feel your breathing shift a bit if it’s working, as if you were falling asleep.

      • Penny says:

I will give it a try! Though if I don’t have a mantra, I feel guilty for not DOING something.

        • Nah, meditation is quite a physical, scientific sort of thing, although it can certainly FEEL mystical. People stress too much about it, and about clearing their thoughts, etc. None of that is particularly important, really. Mantras, if you need one, simply help to focus the mind.

It’s really just about achieving a nice relaxed state, and sort of tricking your body into thinking it’s asleep, while your mind stays awake. I do all my best work and get my most useful ideas in this condition. It’s pretty awesome!

I somehow missed this. Just took the test. I’m an INFP. That explains why I’m always the one called on to smooth things over between various family members.

Also, I just tried the eyeball thing and it makes me dizzy! I tried doing it gently. It’s weird – or I’m weird? ;-)

    • Of course you’re weird. You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t. But I used to get dizzy when I first started meditating. Maybe try doing it a little less, or just stand on your head and see if that helps. :P

P.S. I get rather a lot of INFPs for aura readings and such. It’s a rare personality type, but by nature it is one that is more interested in self-discovery than others. Which is just cool.
