I’m an artist with synesthesia, a harmless bit of neurological cross-wiring that causes me to see letters, numbers, emotions, and even people’s personalities in specific and meaningful colors. This condition gives me a perspective on life and art that most people don’t have, and my work tends to be fairly unique as a result. I will sometimes include a subject’s aura colors in a portrait, for example, which I intuitively “see” when I think about that person.
I used to execute my work on paper, but recently I’ve discovered that I’m much happier working in a digital format, using Procreate on my iPad with the Apple Pencil. I love the minimalist aspect of this approach, and the unlimited possibilities it presents for creativity.
